FAQs about UltraMIND

What does hypnosis feel like?

The hypnosis techniques used in RTT are nothing like “stage” hypnosis which is what most people think of when they hear the word hypnosis. Hypnosis is just a relaxation of the nervous system that allows you to access and focus on  your subconscious thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. You are still 100% in control of your body and your actions during hypnosis. You are not going to cluck like a chicken or believe that you are an alien on a foreign planet—we’ll leave those tricks to Derren Brown and other entertainers.

You are free to speak, to scratch an itch, to adjust your body.

Frankly, hypnosis during RTT doesn’t feel all that different from your usual conscious awakened state. You are not going to feel any kind of stark difference between being awake versus being hypnotized. We’ll leave the “mesmerizing trances” to the likes of Dracula.

You’ve already experienced many hypnotic states during your lifetime, but you just haven’t labeled them as such. Have you ever driven home from work and when you got home, you couldn’t remember everything about your drive home? You were on “autopilot”—which is just a hypnotic state of mind.

What if I can’t be hypnotized?

There is a very minor population that has more difficulty with hypnosis, but the vast majority of clients who want to participate in an UltraMIND session are going to be able to be hypnotized without difficulty. A quick way to assess for your own ability to be hypnotized is to look up into your very own eyebrows. Keep looking upward into your eyebrows for the duration of three deep breaths in and out. Blinking during this exercise is an early indication that you are a great candidate for hypnotherapy. As you reach your third exhalation, slowly begin to close your eyelids WHILE KEEPING YOUR GAZE UPWARD. You should be able to feel your eyelids rapidly moving as your upward gaze is maintained with closed eyelids. If you can’t feel your eyelids flickering or rapidly moving, have someone watch you do this to see if your eyelids are moving. This type of rapid eye movement is a clear sign that you are well-suited to hypnotherapy.

I’ve listened to hypnotherapy sessions or guided meditations online before and didn’t find it helpful.

How is UltraMIND different?

Recordings that facilitate self-hypnosis or that have guided meditation can be helpful for many clients, but we find there are two problems that exist with these general-use recordings. First, such recordings are usually vague and may not contain the exact language that excites your mind or facilitates true change. In a word, they aren’t “customized” to you. Second, hypnosis recordings can be very helpful for people who do not have limiting beliefs that are holding them back. An UltraMIND session that utilizes RTT will help to interrupt such limiting beliefs, making room for new thought patterns and new habits and behaviors to be established.

Does an RTT session have to be done in person to be effective?

We offer UltraMIND sessions both in person and online. It is just as effective to conduct RTT online as it is to conduct it in person, as long as you have a great internet connection.

What happens during an UltraMIND session?

The roadmap of a 1.5 hour RTT session can be broken down into 4 major I’s:

'

1:  Induce

We start every session by ensuring that you are comfortable and relaxed. Then, we guide you down the necessary steps to induce a hypnotic state. Following quick induction, we take further steps to help deepen your hypnosis.

2:  Investigate

This is followed by investigating at least 3 scenes that have everything to do with your chief concern. We will investigate each subconscious scene one by one, and then, working together, we will help you link how those scenes are tied to your current concern or issue.

3:  Interrupt

Once we have determined underlying limiting belief systems, we have many tools designed to interrupt those beliefs or feelings. This is where the true healing begins for most of us and where the transformation to better living begins.

4:  Install

Once limiting thoughts are interrupted, we then work on installing better beliefs using your very own words for what you want your life without the problem to be like. We reframe your problem and then install exactly what your mind wants and needs to hear in order to live a life free of your presenting problem.

At every step of the way, you will be in control of your body and of your thoughts and feelings. We make sure that every session is a safe and conducive space for sharing and healing.

What should I expect after my UltraMIND session?

Immediately After

Immediately after your session, we will spend some time reflecting on how you are feeling. Most clients feel refreshed but tired, very similar to the feeling you may have after a soothing massage or spa day. It is not unusual to feel like taking a nap or turning into bed early on the day of an RTT session. We recommend that you clear your schedule to avoid anything taxing for the rest of the day.

Days After

In the days that follow an RTT session, you are very likely to have other “aha” moments pertaining to your presenting problem. This is a normal process and many take solace in these “aha” moments, but it can stir other emotions additionally. We will check in with you in 1-3 days following an RTT session, to make sure that you are listening to your customized transformation recording and to provide any further aftercare necessary.

1 Week Later

In the week following an RTT session, your transformation is well underway and it is usual and customary for you to feel lighter, better, and even lifted in regard to your presenting complaint or concern. We will check in with you around 7-10 days after your session to gauge how you are feeling.

3 Weeks Later

In the couple of weeks following an RTT session, you will definitely feel transformed and this transformation will equate to changes in your feelings and beliefs as well as changes in your behavior and habits. For many issues, one session with RTT can be enough and no further RTT sessions are necessary. For some issues, you may feel that you need to explore other aspects of your concern in another session.

How many sessions are usually necessary?

1

RTT can help certain problems in as little as one session. Such issues usually include fears/phobias, confidence, smoking cessation, procrastination, motivation issues, public speaking issues, and stress.

2-3

Issues such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, disordered eating, autoimmune issues, and IBS are more complex and usually require 2-3 sessions.

How does RTT work with physical symptoms and chronic conditions?

Chronic conditions and ailments can be worked on in a session by defining exactly what role, function, purpose, or intention your condition is serving in your life. Once the “job” of an ailment is identified, we have many tools in RTT to help with chronic conditions like migraine, IBS, and the like.

Many patients benefit from tools like Healing Vortex and Command Cell Therapy (CCT) to ease symptoms and transform the trajectory of chronic conditions. Doctors have known (and forgotten) that the mind is truly the most powerful tool for healing. Just ask the drug industry–every drug developed must outperform the “placebo effect” in order to be deemed effective to treat certain conditions. Not surprisingly, the placebo effect is derived directly from the mind–if the mind expects that a drug or a procedure will have a positive impact, then the body will follow suit. Tools like Healing Vortex and CCT powerfully tap into the mind’s ability to change symptoms and alter outcomes of chronic conditions.

What if I cry during my session?

Most clients will cry at some point during their session. We expect that and welcome it as part of the healing process. Plenty of tissues and compassion are provided during any in-person session and if you are doing your session via video, we recommend having a couple of tissues at the ready.

What if I recall something embarrassing or shameful?

We can never consciously predict what scenes the subconscious mind will take us to, but we recognize that some scenes may feel uncomfortable or embarrassing to share.

When we visit scenes, we do so in a way that you NEVER relive your scene. You are merely an observer of that scene and can watch the scene on a distant movie screen. We are not that interested in all of the details of the scene, but rather what feelings you are having in that scene.

If there is something that you do not want to share with Dr. Arthur, you do not have to share it in full detail. Dr. Arthur is there to provide you with a safe and reassuring environment to explore your feelings and will guide you through any difficult scenes that may come up. As with any medical visit, what is shared is completely confidential.

I am a survivor of past abuse and do not want to relive abuse or trauma. Is RTT still for me?

1 out of every 3 girls and 1 out of every 5 boys are victims of abuse; nearly 70% are abused by a family member. Over 3 million cases of child abuse are reported every year in the United States. For every case that is reported, it is estimated that another 2 incidents of abuse or neglect are not reported.

Given these alarmingly sad statistics, we are quite aware that you may have experienced emotional, physical, or sexual abuse in your past and RTT has multiple tools that help us to empower you and move beyond such abuse. While we can’t change the fact that abuse may be a part of your past, we can safely and compassionately address any scenes that may crop up and will empower you with tools and skills that you were not equipped with as a child, teen, or early adult.

Should such scenes arise during an UltraMIND session, your comfort is of paramount importance to us. You will never be forced to share something you do not wish to share, nor to relive any past trauma. We have many tools in RTT to safely and compassionately navigate around these very issues.

What if I don’t listen to my customized transformational recording following my session?

Not listening to your recording following your session will lower the effectiveness of the technique. It is estimated that about 60% of the effectiveness of the technique lies in the session itself while the remaining 40% of the effectiveness lies in the ongoing, daily care with the recording.

The vast majority of patients love their recording and actually look forward to listening to it daily, if not more than once daily.

If you do not feel that you have 15 minutes to spare for self-care for 21 days following your session, we recommend that you NOT sign up for an UltraMIND session.
